Malani, PhD., CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, earned her Bachelor’s (1999) and Master’s (2001) degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida and completed her Ph.D. (2012) in Education with a focus on language and literacy also at the University of Central Florida. In 2017 she was awarded the distinction of Board Certified Child Language Specialist. Her work in the field of assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) began during graduate school and has continued through her entire career.
Melissa has experience with diverse pediatric populations with a variety of communication needs. Her initial work experience included providing assessment and intervention services in the public schools. There she worked with children and adolescents with special needs focusing on individuals who benefited from the support of AAC. She then moved into private practice where she specialized in language and AAC intervention services, and she continues to do so today. Prior to starting with Saltillo August of 2014, she started working as an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor at UCF and continues that work at this time.
Melissa holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), has a Florida Speech-Language Pathology License, and is a registered member of the Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (FLASHA), and the International Reading Association (IRA), as well as ASHA’s Special Interest Division 12 (AAC Division).
