Gaby Hernandez

instructor imageGaby Cook Hernandez earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders, completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and her graduate training at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Gaby has been a practicing school-based bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist for eight years, including several years as the regional lead SLP for a charter school network serving 10 campuses across Austin, supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade.

In her leadership role, Gaby demonstrated a deep commitment to augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She actively contributed to the development of standard operating procedures for AAC, conducted evaluations, and consulted with school-based SLPs on device implementation. She also co-led parent workshops focused on AAC and provided ongoing therapy to multilingual children with a wide range of speech and language needs.

Gaby is deeply passionate about ensuring AAC users - and the families, educators, and peers who support them - feel empowered and supported throughout their communication journey. She actively advocates for diverse modes of communication and champions inclusivity in all aspects of her work. Her approach reflects a strong belief in fostering meaningful language development by equipping students and their support systems with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive.

She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice in the state of Texas.

Disclosure: Gaby Cook Hernandez is a salaried employee-owner of PRC-Saltillo.
