October is AAC Awareness Month – a month to acknowledge all that augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) can do to give people a voice in person and in digital spaces. It’s also a fantastic time to celebrate individuals in the AAC community. There are many words to describe these individuals. Here are eight. Determined. Kind. Hardworking. Others-focused. Enthusiastic. Generous. Friends. Leaders. They share many characteristics, and yet, they each have their own vibe with AAC. This October, there are several opportunities to connect more with their personal perspectives.

Join Our Live Event with Kevin Williams

You’re invited to join a special online event featuring a diverse panel of individuals who use AAC to recognize these strengths and more! Kevin Williams, PRC-Saltillo Contractor for Training and Education, Products and Services, starts AAC Awareness Month strong as he hosts:

Voices of AAC: What is Your Professional Vibe as an AAC User

Tuesday, October 1 at 5:00 p.m., ET

Panelists include Margaret Moore, Catalina Vrana, and Jack McGraw. These leaders who use AAC to express themselves in a professional setting will share their unique experiences and insights on what it's like to navigate professional relationships.

Discussion topics:

  • The benefits and challenges of using AAC in developing connections
  • Strategies for effective communication and self-expression in a professional setting
  • Personal stories of empowerment and resilience navigating employment and personal care
  • The importance of advocating accessibility and negotiating opportunities to work
