This session provides an overview of research on tiered vocabulary and its connection to existing research on core vocabulary for individuals using AAC. Learn how to identify vocabulary terms that support AAC communicators and provide better access to educational content while also expanding students’ abilities to communicate in social settings in and outside of the classroom. Curious about the perspective of someone who uses AAC? PRC-Saltillo Ambassador Anthony Arnold shares his personal experience with AAC in this afternoon session. He highlights the importance of communication continuing throughout life. Communication isn't something we only do at school and therapy. It’s something we do everywhere! Language progresses throughout a person's life with new vocabulary words gained through experiences, and Anthony recommends a robust vocabulary that supports constant growth.
