Katie Helmeid

Katie Helmeid, M.A., OTR/L, ATP – Katie earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota to pursue her master’s degree in occupational therapy. She was a lead therapist for a school-based contract company in Arizona where she found her passion for AAC while working with students with complex bodies and communication needs. She went on to obtain an Assistive Technology Professional certification and worked as an AAC evaluator and trainer for Northern Arizona University. In this role, Katie worked with individuals of all ages to determine the best device and access options as well as providing training to the device users, their families and support staff. Katie also created an assistive technology program for a large school district in Arizona to provide equipment, support and specialized trainings for all special education students and staff. Katie has since relocated to Wisconsin where she worked in a pediatric outpatient clinic and birth-to-three program. Katie is thrilled to continue her AAC journey with PRC-Saltillo as an AAC Consultant. She has always valued her ability to see the whole person and create meaningful relationships with clients.
