Amy Keepers

Amy Keepers, M.S., CCC‑SLP, earned her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from New York University (NYU).  She has over a decade of experience supporting individuals with complex communication needs across a wide range of educational and community settings. She has worked with children and young adults ages 2 through 23, including individuals with autism, Down syndrome, learning disabilities, and complex literacy needs. Her clinical focus includes augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), assistive technology for reading and writing, and developing functional communication systems that foster independence.

Throughout her career, Amy has gained extensive expertise conducting AAC and assistive technology evaluations, guiding device selection, and supporting customization and implementation. She collaborates closely with families, educators, and related service providers to ensure AAC systems are integrated into everyday routines, helping individuals communicate effectively across environments. She is particularly passionate about supporting literacy development in AAC users and ensuring assistive technology is accessible, meaningful, and sustainable.

In addition to her school-based work, Amy has consulted with teams and families to build capacity and confidence in AAC use. She believes successful AAC implementation relies on collaboration, consistency, and practical strategies that can be embedded in real-world settings.

She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed in the state of New Jersey. She remains committed to ongoing learning and to empowering individuals who use AAC to express their ideas, connect with others, and fully participate in their communities.
